hi all,
i have always wanted to have my own radio station online but the last time i attempted it, my dsp stuff would always reset after each song so i sort of put it on the back burner until the other day. I downloaded and set up the dnas shoutcast server, winamp and the dsp plugin thing. i quickly found out it doesn't like routers, or maybe just mine.
anyway i have a bigger problem, i have my content directory set to c:stationfiles, yeah bright i know lol but this is not sending out anything, even the yp.shoutcast... server will remove me after about 30 seconds because of no data but, what is the problem?
I went in and made extra sure that the dsp output, encoder, and input was all set like it said, hit connect, and i still don't broadcast anything, however in the content dir i just have several mp3 files but no play list. I hope thats not the problem but if it is, i am really going to feel stupid lol
well i figured a bit more of this out..i feel like an idiot, i guess to keep from getting disconnected you have to actually have winamp playing something, or thats helping anyway, but now my problem is, i don't know if the dsp plugin is just sitting there stupid like it doesn't have a clue what to do or if it truely is connected
i have uninstalled the console version of sc_serv.exe and installed the gui one and i don't have any messages about the yp.shoutcast thing adding or removing me but still the other problem is a "no source" message,
now what!
It would be a lot easier to go with a shoutcast server provider.
Then all you have to do is connect.
If you just want a server the try out fast-serv
You could also check out shane D hosting services though you have to call him and ask about what he offers for shoutcast.
good news for anyone who is keeping up with this, i did get everything working. it helps if your brain is along when you are doing stuff lol..i got it FINAlLY!
and the reason i didn't go with a provider thing is because i have no clue what format i want to have, i have an idea but that might totally change too
